Mahabali Steel is one of the well-known producer and exporter of Alloy 317L Sheets, Plates and Coils , which is quite ductile and forms easily. Working temperatures of 1652 Degree F – 2102 Degree F (900 Degree C – 1150 Degree C) are recommended for hot working processes; however, do not work this alloy below 1742 Degree F (950 Degree C).
The addition of molybdenum and nitrogen of SS 317L sheets implies more powerful processing equipment may be necessary when compared with the standard grades. If the final forming temperature falls below this threshold, solutions anneal of 1976 Degree F – 2156 Degree F (1080 Degree C – 1180 Degree C) is necessary, where rapid quenching is required.
The cold work hardening rate of Stainless Steel 317L sheets, which is offered by Mahabali Steel, makes it less machinable than stainless steel 410. It is a low carbon or "L" grade which provides resistance to sensitization during welding and other thermal processes. Stainless Steel 317L plates (UNS S31703) are molybdenum - bearing austenitic stainless steel with greatly increased resistance to chemical attack as compared to the conventional chromium - nickel austenitic stainless steels such as Alloy 304.
The nickel present in the alloy provides resistance to moderately reducing solutions such as pure phosphoric acid, whatever the concentration, in cold solutions and up to 10 % diluted hot solutions. In addition, Stainless Steel 317L coils from Mahabali Steel offer higher creep, stress – to – rupture, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures than conventional stainless steels.
