Alloy 20 sheets are a nickel – iron - chromium austenitic alloy that was developed for maximum resistance to acid attack, specifically sulphuric acid. In addition, this super - alloy is used in heat exchangers, mixing tanks, metal cleaning and pickling equipment, and piping. Alloy 20 plates offered by Mahabali Steel have excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion in chemicals containing chlorides and sulphuric, phosphoric, and nitric acids.

A lower hardness can be obtained by heating to 2100 Degree F but his may have a negative effect on the stabilization of the alloy. Carpenter 20 plates combines excellent corrosion resistance with elevated mechanical properties and relatively easy fabrication. It can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.

Annealing of Carpenter 20 sheets, which is offered by Mahabali Steel, should be between 1725 Degree F and 1850 Degree F for 30 minutes at temperature per inch of thickness. Although originally designed for use in sulphuric acid related industries, Alloy 20 coils is now a popular choice for a wide variety of industries including the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries.
