Alloys 800 sheets is widely used in the furnace and heat treating fields for retorts, boxes, muffles, wire belts, roller hearths, and similar parts which require resistance to oxidation and to furnace atmospheres.
The weight - loss determinations used to obtain the curves indicate the ability of a material to retain a protective oxide coating under conditions of cyclic exposure to the temperature. Incoloy Alloy 800 plates offered by Mahabali Steel are the standard material for nitriding containers because of its resistance to nitrogen at high temperatures. In general, an annealing treatment of about 1850 Degree F / 15 min (1010 Degree C / 15 min) will produce soft material.
Alloy 800 coils have good resistance to carburization, where consequently, times and temperatures for heat treatment are usually experimentally determined. The behaviour of the INCONEL Alloy 800 plates during heating is governed by a number of interacting variables: amount of cold work, grain size, chemical composition, and dimensions of the material.
Brief exposure to 1900 Degree F (1040 Degree C) will give soft material without producing a coarse grain structure. INCONEL 800 sheets offered by Mahabali Steel resists attack by sulphur compounds at moderate temperatures, but it is subject to sulfidation in high-temperature, sulphur - containing environments.
